Protecting Fragile Skylights on a PEB Industrial Roof
Kee Safety India provided Kee Cover® skylight protection for one of India’s pioneering Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) companies, helping improve safety for personnel working on the facility’s industrial roof.
The large profiled metal roof incorporates continuous skylights to provide natural daylight inside the facility. However, these fragile rooflights can present a serious fall-through hazard during roof inspection, cleaning and maintenance activities.
After identifying potential hazards on the roofs of several bottling facilities, Kee Safety was able to provide a full range of solutions.
The customer required a permanent solution to protect personnel from accidentally stepping or falling through the continuous skylights.
The solution needed to integrate with the existing PEB roofing system while allowing natural daylight to continue entering the building.
The customer was concerned about potential risks to their workers at their plants, and wanted to take advantage of our free site survey to ensure all staff were protected.
Following an assessment of the roof and skylight configuration, Kee Cover® was selected as the appropriate protection system.
Protective mesh panels were installed continuously over the fragile rooflights, creating a physical barrier between personnel and the fall hazard.
The modular system was configured around the existing profiled metal roof, providing effective protection without compromising the skylight's natural-lighting function.
The completed Kee Cover installation provides permanent passive protection over the fragile skylights and helps create a safer rooftop environment for inspection and maintenance personnel.
