Kee Cover

Why do you need Kee Cover Skylight Fall Protection?

Flexible

Adaptable fall protection solution for covering rooflights on trapezoidal and standing seam roofs. Variable height caters for different shaped roof lights. One and two metre extension panels are available for larger rooflights and skylights.

Smart Design

Our fall protection skylight cover offering has been designed to protect people and preserve your roof. The skylight is protected by a strong mesh panel that sits on a sturdy metal frame. The protection is then clamped to the standing seam without penetrating either the roof or skylight.

Compliant

Rooflight covers have been tested to EN ISO 1873: 2014 Part 2 and comply with the ACR Red Book.

Key Features

Durable

All components and mesh panels are hot dip galvanised for enhanced durability.

Easily Installed

Kee Cover is a component based system, allowing ease of transport of components to the roof and easy assembly on site.

Multiple Rooflight Styles

The system can be used on a wide variety of rooflights. Variable height caters for different shaped rooflights and extension panels are available for larger skylights.

Light Gets Through

The mesh panels don’t block out light, meaning the building will stay illuminated.

Skylights A

The Most Dangerous Hazard

Many people incorrectly assume that the most dangerous fall hazard is the edge of the roof.  While very dangerous, people instinctively know to stay away from the edge.  Skylights are more dangerous because they are often in the walking path of the people on the roof and many do not see them as a danger.  Many skylights are fragile and could not support the weight of a falling person.  Many fatalities happen when people fall THROUGH the roof, not necessarily over the edge.

Rooflight Cover Models

Kee Cover Standard 1

Standard

The standard model fixes virtually flat to the roof surface, it has been designed to be permanently secured directly over the roof light.

Kee Cover Raised

Raised

The Raised Model is mounted above the skylight to give a greater distance between the mesh panel and the rooflight, so in the event of a fall the Raised Model will support the weight without damaging the skylight.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • What is the widest skylight I can protect using a skylight screen?
For domed skylights the maximum width is 1.8m. On trapezoidal roofs the standard width is 1m and for standing seam the width is 1m. On metal roofs, however, custom widths can be ordered.
    • I believe that my skylight is fall protection rated, how can I be sure?
Most skylights have a “Danger Risk of Fall” warning attached to the rail. The absence of this warning does not mean your skylight is fall protection rated. Most skylights suffer from UV degradation over time and will not withstand a fall. If in doubt, call your skylight manufacturer and request fall protection ratings in writing.
    • I have bars on the inside of my skylight, are these fall protection?
The bars welded inside of a skylight are commonly known as “burglar bars” and are designed to keep thieves out of your facility, not to protect from the impact of a fall. Furthermore, these bars do not protect workers or equipment below the opening from being struck by shards of the broken dome or potential biological contaminants should an impact occur. Kee Safety does not recommend using burglar bars as fall protection.
    • Do I need to protect every skylight on my roof?
In simple terms, yes. In 1910.28(b)(3)(i) OSHA states that employees must be protected from any hole 4' or higher above a lower level. However, we recommend partnering with a Kee Safety Expert to help prioritize the fall hazards on your roof using a risk-assessment based approach.
    • Does the Kee Safety Skylight Screen penetrate the curb of my domed skylight?
The STS style skylight screen uses patented tension technology to clamp around the curb of your skylight without the use of penetrating tek-screws.

Skylights are a common feature in many industrial facilities, manufacturing MNCs, Data Centers, and construction company sites in India. They provide natural light and ventilation but can pose a serious safety hazard if not adequately protected.

Fragile Roofs and skylights can collapse under a person's weight, leading to severe injury or death. Several factors can contribute to the fragility of a roof or skylight, including age, materials, and weathering.
